C.A.S.T. Introductory OPEN Tournament Previews 2011 Season

The C.A.S.T. Introductory OPEN Tournament held on Richland-Chambers Reservoir, November 13 & 14, 2010 enabled current C.A.S.T. members and prospective new members a chance to socialize and fish together.   As an organization C.A.S.T. membership has provided couples a venue to enjoy fellowship, fun, and fishing while taking advantage of awesome sponsorship  opportunities.

Steve & Trudy Smith, former C.A.S.T. members, took full

advantage of the chance to fish with C.A.S.T. again, after

missing the 2010 regular season.  Steve & Trudy were

unable to participate in C.A.S.T. events due to personal

health & schedule reasons; their absence just made their

Introductory OPEN Tournament victory even better! 

Bringing in an exceptional stringer of bass weighing 29.28

lbs., Steve & Trudy recalled winning C.A.S.T. tournaments

in seasons past.  Running north on Richland-Chambers the

Smith's quickly realized a change to their game plan was in order.  Not having a fish in the livewell at 9:30 am Steve & Trudy decided to run to the south end of the lake to check areas they fished in years past.  Steve's experience helped him catch two carolina-rig fish over eight pounds on back to back casts.  The rest of their heavyweight stringer came from the same area.  Their 1st Place win paid them $2500.00.

Along with the great day of fishing at Richland-Chambers, C.A.S.T. couples were able to meet the supporting sponsors of C.A.S.T.;  Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Castaway Rods, Brass N' Blades, Just Keepers Weigh-in Bags, and others.  Skeeter Boats & Yamaha's Professional Demonstration team rewarded tournament participants with opportunity to test ride in the newest and best boats and outboards available.  Not only did couples get to sample the best bass boats in the industry they were also given a chance to be rewarded just for taking a test ride!  Bob & Yoli Narron took a ride allowing them to win a $1000.00  incentive award courtesy of Skeeter & Yamaha.  C.A.S.T. has long enjoyed support from the best companies in the fishing industry. 

Skeeter & Yamaha were also able to have Lee Robertson bring his Skeeter/Yamaha On-Site Repair Trailer to the event.  Lee provided many C.A.S.T. members with some valuable repairs to their personal boat and outboards.  His expertise was demonstrated through his repair of many issues regardless of boat or motor manufacturer.  Thank you, Lee!!!

While Steve & Trudy came away with the victory; taking 2nd Place

along with $1500.00 in the C.A.S.T. Introductory OPEN were

regular season father & daughter team Terry & Lauren Hawkins. 

Coming to weigh-in with a giant fish weighing 8.99 lbs., garnering

Big Bass honors, worth an additional $220.00, added to their total

weight of 24.72 lbs.  Terry & Lauren have been fishing with

C.A.S.T. for many years.  Lauren, now in eighth grade, has been

tournament fishing with her father and C.A.S.T. since she was

eight years old.  She has become a very accomplished angler!

Taking 3rd Place, winning $1000.00, were long time C.A.S.T. members

Don & Dixie Rodgers.  Don & Dixie have always done well as a

tournament fishing couple.  Bringing in a very good stringer of bass

weighing 18.78 lbs.  In the 2009 C.A.S.T. Classic Championship on

Richland-Chambers they finished in sixth place with 31.00 lbs. winning

over $2400.00.  The Rodgers are one example of many couples fishing

C.A.S.T.; taking advantage of the opportunity to meet new members,

compete on a level playing field, enjoy generous sponsor benefits, all

while having a tremendous amount of fun doing so.

C.A.S.T. wishes to thank all the couples who participated in the 2010 Introductory OPEN Tournament as well as the awesome support provided by the companies and businesses who recognize C.A.S.T. couples as valuable customers.  We look forward to seeing all of our new and current members on the lake in 2011.
