C.A.S.T Ark-Tex Region’s 3rd tournament was another huge success we had some new couples to our region; Cecil & Paula Suttle our winners, L.W. Buck & JoAnn Madding, and new to C.A.S.T. for this year anyway, Bill & Carol Moize. Welcome to all of you, and thanks for supporting the Ark-Tex region and all of our sponsors.
It was a cold start on Sunday morning. There was a lite fog on the water. Of course the fog lifted when the moderate to gusty winds kicked in. Most of our ladies reported not being warm until they came to weigh-in. We again had an impressive weigh-in with the weather conditions from Friday night until Sunday afternoon not being the greatest for fishing. Our couples weighed in a grand total of 165.88 pounds, with several couples bringing in a limit of 5 fish. The race for top six is only beginning. Way to go again Ark-Tex couples.
Our First place couple Cecil & Paula Suttle had a really great day, not only did they have a total weight of 16.74, but they also had Big Bass of 8.14. They took home a total of $495.00, and an Academy Gift Card. Thanks to our sponsor at www.academy.com .
Second Place was taken by one of our couples who are definitely not new to the art of tournament fishing, Mike & Sharon Stroman. Their second place finish now ties them for first place in the race for Anglers of the Year.
Third place was taken by one of our top teams from last year, Ray & Ann Smith. They are not newcomers to fishing either. They tied for Anglers of the Year last year. Keep up the good work.
Fourth place and winners of another Kistler Custom Rod as reward for finishing in the fourth place position were Bryce & Inna Reed. They are having a great year also!
Our top finishing Ranger couple was Marty & Jill Sugg. Jill told me she caught all five of their weighing fish, and that she was able to cull at least two. Marty had to admit he did not have a bite all day. WAY TO GO JILL!! We girls can make a difference. Thanks Ranger Boats. www.rangerboats.com
Rick & I would like to thank everyone who came by the house on Saturday for registration and fajitas. We all had a great time and I was told the food was good. Thanks to everyone for bring dishes, helping in the cooking and clean up. We think we might make this an annual affair.
Several of our couples took home prizes this time, David & Krystal won their second Kistler Custom Rod, thanks to Trey Kistler at www.kistlerrods.com. Academy gift card winners were won by Floyd & Ruth Berry, David & Sarah Rhyne, and Cecil & Paula Suttle thanks to the great folks at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
