Net First on Cypress Springs

Ark-Tex couples checked in on Sunday morning under the bright light of a full moon, cool morning air and a light breeze. They were all looking forward to a great day on Cypress Springs. However the wind picked up to the predicted 15-20 miles an hour and by weigh in the winds felt as though they were 30-40 miles an hour. Despite these conditions our Ark-Tex couples brought good numbers of fish to the scales. All of the couples fishing this tournament weighed fish, with well over half of the couples bringing their limit of 5 fish to the scales, giving the region another impressive total of 236 lbs.

Our First place couple Joel & LeaAnn Howell brought a nice sack of fish to the scales weighing 17.44 lbs anchored with a 4.90 lb fish. They reportedly fished mainly one area and used a variety of plastics including baby brush hogs and lizards. Good Fishing you two!!

Second place and still holding the # 1 spot in the region were Donnie Reynolds & Melissa Smith. Even though they had trolling motor trouble on Saturday while pre-fishing and weren’t sure they could fish on Sunday they prevailed. Thanks to the help of one of our guys, David Ford, they were able to have a trolling motor on Sunday and catch five nice fish weighing 16.64 lbs.

Third place was taken by Jim & Linda Rucker with a good sack of fish weighing in at 14.50 lbs. They came to the lake on Saturday thinking they would look for fish but when they saw how windy it was on Saturday afternoon they decided to take a chance of just finding the fish on Sunday. Guess it worked. Way to Go!!

Joe & Susie Moss took home Big Bass honors with a nice 5.90 lb fish netting them not only Big Bass but 4th place also!! Congratulations you two!!

Finishing out our top six places for this tournament were Ronnie & Ruth Bickham with 13.46 lbs and Butch & Cindy Scheppler with 12.78 lbs. Congratulations to both of these couples and congratulations to all of our couples weighing fish this tournament.
