Erbie & Carolyn Voyles Win Big at Lake Tyler
C.A.S.T. Ark-Tex Region’s 2nd tournament of the year brought more couples and bigger sacks of fish. We had a record number of couples for our region. We would like to welcome back old members Floyd & Ruth Berry and Randall and Julie May, as well as welcome a new couple, Bryce & Inna Reed, to C.A.S.T. and the Ark-Tex region. We would also like to say thanks to some NE region members for their support, John and Grace Watts, Erbie & Carolyn Voyles, and Charlie and Edwina Harper. Thanks Ya’ll for supporting Rick & I in this adventure.
Overcast skies and variable winds helped our couples set some high standards for the rest of the year. Twelve of our couples brought a five fish limit to the scales; it was a great tournament! We had 70 fish weighed with a total weight of 209.44 lbs. That is an impressive weigh-in Ark-Tex couples!!
Our First place couple Erbie & Carolyn Voyles had 5 fish with a total weight of 25.04 lbs. Carolyn was heard to say that Erbie called for the net all day, making their tournament a good one. Way to go with the net Carolyn!! This big sack netted them $400.00, and they also took home an Academy Gift Card. (Thanks to our sponsor www.academy.com ) WAY TO GO!!
Second Place was taken by Randall & Julie May with a good bag of fish weighing in at 19.30 lbs, taking home a check for $235.00. They missed our first Ark-Tex tournament this year. Welcome back and what a way to come back.
Third place went to our visiting couple John and Grace Watts with 17.68 lbs. with a 5 fish limit. They reported to have their 5 fish early in the day and were culling fish all day. They told us they had never seen the lake before fishing on Sunday and were impressed with the lake and the quality of fish. They also took home the Ranger Bonus money for this tournament. www.rangerboats.com Congratulations!!
Our fourth place couple and the winners of a Kistler Custom Rod www.kistlerrods.com were Marty & Jill Sugg with 5 fish weighing in at 17.32lbs. They were also the winners of our Classic entry fee drawing, so they had a good day on the Lake too.
David & Krystal Ford brought in the BIG BASS of the day weighing 8.34 lbs., getting them a check for $80.00. David hooked the big fish, and his partner Krystal netted her, they both said it took them a minute to realize how big the fish really was. Krystal said the Big Bass and the other 2 fish were caught on a black and blue senko.
Way to go both of you!!
Other couples to take home prizes were Floyd & Ruth Berry winners of a Real Purse. Erbie & Carolyn Voyles, Ray & Ann Smith and Charlie & Edwina Harber all took home Academy Gift Cards. Thanks again Academy! www.academy.com
