Bring Heavy Stringer

to Scales on Lake Palestine!!!

Ark-Tex couples were greeted with another of the many changes in Texas weather for our first tournament. Saturday morning rains and winds brought the cold front in just in time for Saturday registration. Sunday morning the temperature on my car thermometer read 26 degrees. Some of our couples even found their lids to their storage boxes frozen shut. As the sun came up we had clear skies and light winds at least letting our couples have a comfortable day to fish. But the weather change gave the bass at Lake Palestine a case of closed mouth. Fish that were caught were reportedly caught on a variety of baits and in a various areas on the lake.

Our first place couple Steven & Caitlyn Stroman were able to find 5 fish that weighed in at 16.80. They were the only couple out of 32 couples fishing to bring a limit of fish to the scales at this tournament. Just shows how tough the fishing was for our first tournament.

Second place were Mitchel & Jan Stuteville with a nice stringer weighing in at 11.80. They too were one of the couples able to find fish that were willing to take the bait.

Third place with a nice stringer of four fish were Doug & Bettie Taylor. Their stringer was anchored with a nice 4.60 pound Bass that was in the lead for Big Bass for a while.

Big Bass was brought to the scales by a NEW couple to C.A.S.T. and the Ark-Tex region Jason Riedel & Jennifer Bissonnette. Jason & Jennifer's big bass weighed 4.70 lbs! What away to start your first tournament season with C.A.S.T. Way to go you two!!

Rounding out our top six couples were Anglers of the Year for 2008 Mike & Sharon Stroman in fourth place; Rayford & Diane Richman in fifth place; with Michael Moss & Christina Evangelista taking home sixth place. Congratulations to all of these couples and to all the other couples who were able to find and land fish. This was one of the toughest days the Ark-Tex Region has seen since our opener last year on Caddo.
