Once again our Ark-Tex couples were plagued with unpredictable Texas weather. One week before the tournament highs were in the 70’s and 80’s with water temperatures ranging from 61-65 degrees. All of our couples were expecting a great tournament. But what we got was record rainfall and highs in the 40’s for 3 days prior to the tournament causing water temperatures to drop to 51-54 degrees for tournament day. Even with these conditions we had a record turn out for the tournament and most of our couples brought fish to the scales. Couples reported most fish came from shallow water on a variety of baits including sweet beavers, pink senko’s, and black & blue plastics.
Our 1st place couple, veterans of C.A.S.T., but new to the Ark-Tex region, were Rayford & Diane Richman with a nice sack of fish weighing 14.65 pounds. Congratulations and we love fishing with you two!!
David & Krystal Ford took home 2nd place with a good sack of fish weighing 12.42 pounds. Krystal was able to find the first two fish in the grass. David took her lead and found the remaining two fish for their total weight. What teamwork!
Third place was Bryce & Inna Reed bringing a nice sack of fish to the scales weighing 11.88 pounds, anchored with Inna’s Big Bass weighing 7.42 pounds netting them two checks for the day! By the way a record big fish for Inna. Inna said she thought it was a perch “it just kept pecking my bait so, I set the hook”! Congratulations to Bryce & especially to Inna!!!
Rounding out our couples that took home checks at this tournament were Guy & Rosemary Cavazos, Steve & Janet Hodges, David & Mary Rhyne, and Steven & Caitlyn Stroman. Congratulations to all of these couples and to all the couples able to find and catch fish at this tournament.
Rick & I would like thank all of the new and returning couples joining the Ark-Tex region in 2009 allowing this region grow to record numbers. We would also like to say thanks to David & Krystal Ford for all their help with our tournaments and Jim & Mary for helping set up in the light rain on Sunday.
