SECOND DAY BETTER THAN THE FIRST
OUR BIGGEST FISH OF THE WEEKEND came during our second tournament on Sunday, but it didn’t change who received the 1st place plaque and money.
Joe & Pam Pope showed why they are respected around the state as one of the strongest bass tournament couples to compete in any venue. Sunday they weighed another heavy sack of Choke Canyon bass. Just yesterday, Saturday, they checked in with a five fish limit weighing 22.80 pounds. Today their bag weighed 22.12 pounds. That's almost 45 pounds of bass for two days of fishing, incredible to say the least!
Taking a few hints from Joe & Pam, Floyd & Vickie Lesiker finished in second place with another outstanding limit of bass weighing 21.63 pounds. Floyd & Vickie have had a good season in 2009 and are in contention to qualify for the 2009 CAST TOP SIX Invitational in September.
Now the BIG news for Sunday. Sam Kobecek & Lisa Rice who took home the big bass award at Lake LBJ last month; brought an excellent bag of fish to the scales weighing 21.44 pounds! Not only was it one of the many limits of fish caught today it was also another stringer over 20 pounds for the day. What is truly remarkable about Sam & Lisa's third place finish is it was anchored by a behemoth Texas Parks & Wildlife Department qualifying "sharelunker" weighing 13.30 pounds on the CAST scales, and later certified at 13.30 pounds by the TPWD scale. A colossal finish to two great days. Naturally this huge fish took big fish honors for Sunday's tournament. Congratulations to Sam &Lisa for such a fantastic specimen. We can't wait to see their replica mount from TPWD!
