Couples Association of Sport Tournaments
Joe & Pam Pope
WIN CAST Capitol Region
Tournament on LBJ
Boy, what a difference a day makes. That was the consensus of the of the field after spending the day on Lake LBJ Saturday, March 29, 2008. This was the third of six tournaments scheduled for the C.A.S.T. Capitol Region couples in 2008.
Weights and fish catches were down compared to previous trips to the lake, but as usual our tough bunch all managed to bring fish to the scales. Big fish and heavy stringer of the tournament went to Joe and Pam Pope. Joe and Pam always seem to rise to the top when things are tough, their big fish weighed 3.67 and added nicely to their sack that weighed 12.18 lbs.
Up and comers, Jerry and Pam Carpenter earned second place honors with a nice bag, weighing in at 10.91 lbs.
Larry and Gail Pederzani had their second third place finish in a row with five solid keepers. Good job and congratulations to all our winners, and all our couples for bringing in some great fish.
Our sponsors’again did a phenomenal job and furnished our couples with some great prizes. Our food sponsor, Johnny Walker owner of Emporium Spice provided our couples with a great snack afterwards, while door prizes were awarded.
Chuck Guthrie of Tightlines Tackle in Killeen, Texas donated soft plastic baits for every team as well as Pulsator Spinnerbait packs. Joe and Pam Pope, and Allen and Glenda Summers each won one of these great tackle packs.
Castaway Custom Rods furnished a rod each to the team of Kenneth Staats & Shirleen Hart , and Luther & Alice Lentz.
Dean and Debbie were also the lucky winners of two Delco Voyager batteries courtesy of Keith Kincade, Doyle Gatliff, and The Parts Depot of Temple, what a prize.
James & Donna Cantwell received a $25 gift card from Terri of Chili's of Temple.
Last but not least The Highlander Inn in Burnet, Texas supplied a Team Daiwa reel won by Pete and Rosemarie Trevino. Mike and Teresa Van Brocklin own the Highlander Restaurant which also contains a small but very well stocked Tackle Store. If you want great food, or you need that special item for your next fishing trip, give The Highlander Inn in Burnet a try. They have some of the best food in the Hill Country. Mike can also furnish you with that special bait for your trip and some great fishing knowledge of the highland lakes of central Texas. A huge thanks to Mike and Teresa for their generosity and their hospitality.
Our next tournament will be at Lake Stillhouse on Saturday, May 3rd. We will be at the Temple Super 8 Motel for folks needing to register early. Launch and weigh-in will be at Stillhouse Park Marina.
