CAST Central Region Waco Tournament
CAST Central Region couples braved the crowds Memorial Day weekend at Lake Waco on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Fishing in a tournament on Memorial Day can be crowded but it also makes a statement about the freedom we have to enjoy bass fishing plus fellowship with friends and family. Central Region couples are truly grateful for the sacrafices members of the U.S. Armed Forces make each day so we can enjoy a day of fishing.
Taking 1st Place and the winners share this Memorial weekend were Tyler & Sarah Fonseca. This young couple knows a thing or two about bass fishing as demonstrated by the excellent stringer of bass they brought to scales weighing 13.61 lbs. Not a huge bag of bass but on a crowded lake under warm conditions, still a very respectable outing. Congratulations to Tyler & Sarah!
Coming in with the 2nd place creel were Gerald & Denise Rabroker with a total weight of 12.58 lbs. Fishing slow seemed to be the theme of the day. As Gerald & Denise used slow moving texas-rig worms to take advantage of every bite.
Filling the 3rd place position were Randy & Tracy Mahachek with a nice bag of fish weighing 11.42 lbs. Randy & Tracy started out the season with the CAST Central Region and are still going strong.
Big Bass for the Waco tournament went to Chris & Kendall May with a nice 5.38 pound largemouth. Chris said he caught the top fish of the day using a jig fished slowly through the standing timber in about 8 feet of water. Congratulations to Chris & Kendall on a nice bass!!!
CAST Central Regions final tournament of the season will be at Lake Limestone on Saturday, June 13th with registration and launch at the Limestone Brazos River Authority (BRA) West ramp. We look forward to seeing everyone at Limestone for our final showdown to qualify and participate in the 2009 CAST TOP SIX Invitational Tournament in September.
