LADIES RULE THE DAY AT BRIDGEPORT
by Conley and Kelly Staley
CAST Metroplex visited Lake Bridgeport on March 17, 2007 and the tournament was ruled by the ladies. Most of the larger bass that were weighed in at this tournament were caught by the ladies. Lake Bridgeport is a slot limit lake anything 14” and smaller can be kept and anything 18” and longer can be kept. In all the years that we have been fishing the CAST Metroplex Region this was the most, over the slot, fish that have been weighed in that I can remember.
Our First Place Team and Ranger winners are Steve and Debbie Amburn, with 11.53 lbs. Both of the over fish were caught by Debbie. Crankbaits were the ticket for their fish. They collected 100 points and $400 dollars for the win.
Second place winners, and new to the CAST Family, were Brett Hooks and Jennifer Graham with 11.09 lbs, which earned them $230. They also had big bass of the tournament which weighed 4.53 lbs, and another $80. They also had another one almost the same size to go with it. Jenifer caught both of them on a swim bait.
Our Third place team of Danny and Ginger Moore also had two fish over the slot. They collected $135 for their fish. I’m not sure but Danny was pretty silent on who caught the fish. Don’t worry Danny it was the same in our boat.
It was a great tournament and we hope everyone had fun. From the sounds of things at the weigh-in everyone caught fish. There were reports of large carp, drum and hybrids caught. Some engine troubles (which we hope was nothing serious) and a busted trolling motor. Lesson learned don’t try to save a $4 crankbait and bust your trolling motor on the rocks. (yes its my lesson) It will be easy to fix.
Something else that might interest some of you. Sixteen teams weighed in a total of 96.91 lbs which came out to 6.05lbs per team. Not bad for a slot limit lake! Way to go folks! I thought that was pretty good.
Congratulations to those that won the Academy gift cards. Also a Big THANKS to Shane & Rebecca Timms for the door prizes that were donated. Because of your donation everyone that stayed for the weigh-in got a door prize. Thanks again.
Raffle tickets! We are half way there on each of the door prizes so bring some money with you and we will get those drawn hopefully at the next tournament.
Thanks to all our fine Sponsors
