David & Charlotte Harris
capture Lake Bridgeport WIN!!!

Lakes with slot limits are designed to provide anglers an opportunity to catch big trophy size fish and protect the stock of quality fish at the same time.  David & Charlotte Harris came into the CAST Metroplex Region’s May 31st tournament at Lake Bridgeport, a slot limit lake, with a game plan for winning.  The objective was to catch a nice limit of under-slot or “just weigh-ers” to get their creel started, then go after the bigger over-slot fish.  Well, you always have to love it when a plan comes together.  Not only did they catch a nice limit of smaller “unders” but they also brought two nice “overs” to the scales also.  One of David & Charlotte’s “overs” was Big Bass for the tournament a very respectable 4.57 pound bass that pushed their total weight to 12.37 pounds.
Congratulations on a First Place victory and good job on a well executed plan by David & Charlotte Harris!!!

Finishing in 2nd Place for the second tournament in a row were Jimmy & Karen Williams.  Jimmy & Karen’s weight was 10.54 pounds.  They are an excellent fishing team.  They have worked hard to overcome missing one tournament earlier in the season attempting to make the Top Six standings and an opportunity to fish in the prestigious 2008 TOP SIX Invitational tournament.

Rounding out the top three in 3rd Place were one of CAST Metroplex’s most experienced couples, Quincy & Carolyn Brown.  Quincy & Carolyn put together the best stringer of all under-the-slot fish of the tournament with a five fish limit weighing 8.78 pounds.  Pretty impressive when you consider all five of their fish had to be less than 14 inches in length.  Good Job Quincy & Carolyn!

Ben E. Keith Distributors, courtesy of Steve & Debbie Amburn, once again provided outstanding support for the CAST Metroplex Region couples, furnishing two truly impressive tackle packs valued at over $50.00 each.  Thank you once again Ben E. Keith.

Now that there is only one tournament remaining in the battle for one of the lucrative TOP SIX Invitational positions.  Each bite they get is becoming crucial for the couples who are within striking distance.  With only the July 19th tournament at Eagle Mountain Reservoir remaining, the Top Six positions for the CAST Metroplex Region in order are: John Staley & Page Cundiff, David & Charlotte Harris, Shane & Rebecca Timm, Quincy & Carolyn Brown, Jeff & Susan Brandon, and Steve & Debbie Amburn.

Alternates currently eligible for the TOP SIX Invitational Tournament are: Jimmy & Karen Williams, Danny & Ginger Moore, Chris & Rebecca Wright, and Kevin & Julie Seibold.
This sets up an interesting scenario for the Metroplex TOP SIX Alternate couples.  Each of these couples must catch at least one weighable fish at the Eagle Mountain tournament.  One of the couples in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th place must not catch any weighable fish for the Alternates to make it into the TOP SIX Invitational as one of the primary couples.  Good Luck to everyone!!!

Grace and I have truly enjoyed fishing with the Metroplex Couples in 2008.  We have enjoyed fishing on many Texas lakes we have never been to before.  We enjoyed catching a nice five pound fish on Granbury, (well, Grace did!), to catching White Bass and Hybrids on Bridgeport until our arms were sore.  It has been a great year we look forward to our first trip to Eagle Mountain.  Don’t forget to bring a dish for the after tournament cook out.

As always, please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Metroplex.

Until later…   God Bless and Good Fishin’!
John & Grace Watts,
