It was Timm time on Granbury!!!
There is nothing better than walking to the scales knowing you have a bag of fish that is going to win the tournament! Shane and Rebecca Timm did just that at the CAST Metroplex Tournament on Lake Granbury, April 19, 2008. Not only did they have the winning bag they won by more than TEN pounds over 2nd place! WOW!!!
It was a tough day for all the Metroplex couples. Granbury has been plagued in the past few years with fish killing algae, then throw in heavy rains, high barometric pressure and blue bird skies and you have one of a tournament fisherman’s worst case scenarios. However, someone always finds the bass!
Shane and Rebecca went up the river to a creek they like to fish and whacked ‘em! Bringing 17.64 pounds of bass to the scales along with big bass of the tournament a nice 6.32 pound bass giving them the overwhelming win. Shane and Rebecca really dominated the tournament!
Steve and Debbie Amburn worked hard to catch their fish weighing in 6.81 pounds to claim second place. Steve and Debbie have been instrumental in making CAST Metroplex a wonderful experience for all its couples. Representing Ben E. Keith Distribution Services they have provided exceptional rewards for everyone. Thanks you Steve & Debbie and thank you Ben E. Keith!
Winning third place on a tough day of fishing with one bite and one fish were John & Grace Watts. Grace did all the work catching a very nice 5.01 pound bass from a brush pile John had already fished thoroughly; go figure! She is always doing things like that to me!!!
Granbury is a bass fishing phenomenon, with all the fishable cover, types of structure, and different fishing patterns available; the lake definitely looks like it should have fish everywhere. Hopefully with the help of the folks from the Texas Parks and Wildlife, Granbury will return to its former greatness. History says the lake just needs a break from the environmental stress.
Now, with half of the Metroplex tournaments completed, the regional standings are beginning to take shape. Currently sitting in the Top Six positions for CAST Metroplex Region in order are: John Staley & Page Cundiff, David & Charlotte Harris, Shane & Rebecca Timm, Kevin & Julie Seibold, Jeff & Susan Brandon, and Quincy & Carolyn Brown.
Alternates eligible for the TOP SIX Invitational Tournament are: Steve & Debbie Amburn, Jimmy & Karen Williams, Cary & Carrie Adams, and Danny & Ginger Moore. Everyone keep fishing hard and trying to move up! This year’s TOP SIX Invitational Tournament is going to be even better than last year. Congratulations to everyone!
Our next tournament will be at Lake Whitney on Saturday, May 3, 2008. We will have registration at Lakeside Village Marina starting at 5: 00 am. I expect us to call boat numbers by 6:30 am that morning. Please have your paperwork ready if this is your first tournament of the season. We will also be conducting weigh-in at the boat ramp area.
Please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Metroplex.
Until later… God Bless and Good Fishin’!
