Cary & Carrie WIN on Tawakoni!!!

Winning a CAST Metroplex tournament on an unfamiliar lake is a feat in itself.  Cary and Carrie Adams from Azle, Texas drove all the way to Tawakoni State Park to claim 1st Place in the second tournament of the season.  With an impressively huge big bass weighing 8.16 pounds they bested the second place couple by more than seven pounds in total weight.

It was a tough day for all the Metroplex couples.  With water pouring over the Tawakoni spillway at an incredible clip and cold off colored water throughout the lake, the bass bite was extremely slow.  Couples hoping to fish for bass on beds; were disappointed by the lack of visibility for possibly seeing fish in the shallows; let alone catch them.   However, someone always catches fish and brings them to the scales.

Finishing in second place were David & Charlotte Harris.  This couple has been fishing bass tournaments long enough to now compete against their son Bryan, and his wife Kim.  Fishing with CAST is a family sport.  Being able to compete against your Mom and Dad or your son and daughter is rewarding and a proud accomplishment.  Sometimes you have to eat a little humble pie but overall the times and experiences make it worth every bite!

Taking third place honors at Tawakoni went to former CAST directors for the Metroplex Region, John Staley and Page Cundiff.  Helping keep tradition a-live, John & Page make time to fish tournaments together, as a couple, as much as possible.  They worked CAST tournaments into their busy jobs, along with John fishing higher profile tournaments, so they could spend quality time together.

The end result of the Tawakoni event was just like the old saying “a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work”.
Some changes have taken place in the TOP SIX Invitational tournament standings as a result of the Tawakoni tournament.  Currently sitting in the Top Six positions for CAST Metroplex Region in order are: Kevin & Julie Seibold, Jeff & Susan Brandon, John Staley & Page Cundiff, David & Charlotte Harris, Shane & Rebecca Timm and Cary & Carrie Adams.  Alternates eligible for the TOP SIX Invitational Tournament are: Danny & Ginger Moore, Bryan & Kim Harris, Quincy & Carolyn Brown, and David & Darla Stepich.  Everyone keep fishing hard and trying to move up!  This year’s TOP SIX Invitational Tournament is going to be even better than last year.  Congratulations to everyone!

Our next tournament will be at Lake Granbury on Saturday, April 19, 2008.  We will have registration at the 377 Bridge Ramps starting at 5: 00 am.  I expect us to call boat numbers by 6:30 am that morning.  Please have your paperwork ready if this is your first tournament of the season.  We will also be conducting weigh-in at the boat ramp area.

Please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Metroplex.  Thank you and Until Later...   God Bless and Good Fishin’!
