CAST Northeast fishes stingy Cedar Creek!

Everyone has been anticipating CAST Northeast’s March trip to Cedar Creek Reservoir after the disappointing stringers from last month’s Richland-Chambers event.  Well, Cedar Creek proved to be just as stingy in early March as Richland-Chambers was in February.  Hard work and one fish stringers were the norm on Sunday, March 8th, but someone manages to find enough fish to win.

Taking the top spot with 13.52 pounds and finishing in 1st Place were Bryce & Inna Reed.  Bryce & Inna put together a solid five fish stringer anchored by the Big Bass of the tournament, a decent 5.73 pounder!  They worked hard throughout the day picking up a fish here and one there.  Perseverance sometimes is the best strategy in a tough bass tournament.

Finishing in second place was one of CAST’s most experienced couples Steve & Debbie Heck.  Steve & Debbie have been fishing CAST tournaments for many years and are two of the most respected couples in the Northeast Region.  Debbie said, Steve got into a zone and just started whacking them!  The impressive part about their stringer was it only had four bass weighing 13.42 pounds, just .10 of a pound behind the winners.

Third place went to one of CAST Northeast’s new couples, Chris & Janice Thorn.  Chris & Janice ran over to the west bank of Cedar Creek in anticipation of high winds forecast for Sunday.  The strategy turned out to be a good move even though the excessive wind predicted failed to show.  Chris & Janice caught their first and largest fish very close to the Cedar Creek spillway area.  From there they simply went fishing working their way along the bank headed north until it was time to head to weigh-in.  Their hard work and persistence paid dividends with 13.20 pounds for five fish.

Grace & I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Cedar Creek Tournament, Butch & Cindy Scheppler, Terry & Bonnie Johnson, and Tommy & Barbara Taylor.  I sincerely appreciate their help while Grace was in Colorado caring for her mother, who is doing much better.

The couples currently eligible to represent the Northeast Region in the 2009 CAST TOP SIX Invitational Tournament are:  Mike & Martha Aguado, Jeremy Grandstaff and Crystal Anderson,  Bill Wilcox & Barbara Potts, John & Tawney Larsen, Terry & Lauren Hawkins, and Steve & Debbie Heck.  Eligible alternates are: Todd Anderson & Shelly McFarlane, Steve & Trudy Smith, Roger & Sandra Mahoney, and Chris & Janice Thorn.  Good Luck to everyone, keep movin’ up!

Our next tournament will be at Lake Fork on April 19, 2009.  We will have registration at Lakeview Lodge starting at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 18th.  We will conduct a drive through registration and livewell check on Sunday morning at the Lakeview Lodge pavillion.  After your livewell has been checked you will be able to trailer to your fishing area on Lake Fork.  We will be set-up for weigh-in in the parking area just above the Lakeview Lodge boat ramp.

Please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Northeast.

Thank you and until later God Bless and Good Fishin’!
John & Grace Watts,
