Mitchel and Jan Stuteville Win on Palestine!!!

CAST Northeast pulled into Lake Palestine for the second tournament of the year. CAST members found the weather in full transition from low pressure and cloudy conditions to high pressure with bright blue bird skies. This made the fishing a little tougher than some teams hoped for, but somebody always catches the fish!
First Place went to Mitchel and Jan Stuteville of Elkhart, TX with an outstanding weight of 20.01 lbs. Mitchel and Jan knew exactly where to go on Sunday morning to catch their fish. Drawing the number one boat position for Sundays start of the tournament made their job that much easier. Mitchel hooked up with the male bass off of a bed he found on Saturday on the first cast of the morning. After putting that fish in the livewell he pitched back into the same spot while looking for the female in the dim morning light. He didn’t notice but she had already picked up the bait and swam off with it. When Mitchel finally saw his line ten feet from where it should have been he set the hook and put a 6.65 lb. female in the boat!! This would be the second largest fish of the tournament!
Coming in second was the seasoned (“salty” some say) team of Joe and Suzie Moss. Joe and Suzie are one of the best couple’s bass fishing teams in Texas! Their weight of 13.30 lbs. was made up of a solid bag of Palestine bass. Joe and Suzie also targeted bed fish in 3 to 5 foot depths.
Third place went to CAST Northeast regulars Wesley and Marissa Brossett from Groesbeck. Their weight of 12.16 lbs. for four fish had all the makings of an excellent stringer. One “kicker” fish would have made them tough to beat.
Fourth place and Big Bass for the tournament went to another new couple to CAST Northeast; Jeremy Grandstaff and Crystal Anderson. Their weight of 12.14 lbs. was bolstered nicely by a huge female weighing 6.66 lbs!!! One “hundredth” of a pound larger than the second largest bass!!!
Many couples won numerous door prizes and raffle items including, Kistler Custom Fishing Rods, Yamalube Outboard Motor Oil donated by Jared Taylor of Plano Marine, and gift cards from Academy Sports + Outdoors. Winning raffles for the 2007 CAST Classic were Cecil and Paula Suttle along with Jim and Linda Rucker. The Kistler Custom Rods for the Bob Sandlin tournament were won by Terry and Bonnie Johnson as well as Cecil and Paula Suttle.
Our next tournament will be at Lake Bob Sandlin on April 29th, 2007, with dinner at Rick and Linda Milams house on Saturday afternoon. Registration will begin at 3:00 pm and official tournament announcements at 5:00 pm. Please remember to e-mail our sponsors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of CAST and CAST Northeast.
Thank you and until later God Bless and Good Fishin’!
