Craig & Elizabeth Marsh WIN Somerville

by John & Grace Watts

God has blessed us with many wonderful things!  He has also left us trials testing our faith and character.  On April 30th he blessed us and gave us an opportunity to overcome and forget our trials for a day.  The weather was beautiful, the lake was fruitful, and the fish were bountiful.  Craig and Elizabeth Marsh enjoyed the beauty, fruit, and bounty of Lake Somerville bringing in a limit of large bass weighing 17.20 lbs. plus taking big bass honors with an excellent 5.48 lb. kicker fish.  Craig fished a texas rigged ring rascal, while Elizabeth fished a carolina rigged ring rascal, around rock piles to claim the win.  Elizabeth took the role of big fish team member, bringing in the largest fish in their impressive stringer and the bulk of their weight.  Craig and Elizabeth have shared all the enjoyment of fishing together and the trials that come with life.  Their example is what CAST is all about.  If you are in CAST to win $$$; you may want to get to know Craig and Elizabeth, they won’t say much but they will show you why we fish!
The second place team is starting to get hard to write about!  Don and Sandy Jeane just keep on rolling through the competition in the Southeast Region.  With 5 fish weighing 14.72 lbs. This powerhouse team continues to prove that CAST Couples may not fish for big bucks but money doesn’t mean we can’t consistently catch professional weight stringers.  Don and Sandy have maintained first place in the standing since the second stop of the year.  I do not expect they will relinquish the top spot without a fight.
John & Grace Watts managed to catch four quality fish to take third place with 14.38 lbs.  Grace was a little bummed about the one that jumped off her jig right at the boat but if you didn’t lose one once in a while it wouldn’t be as much fun when you catch ‘em.  The nice stringer they brought in also helped them win the “Ranger Bonus Money” for the Somerville tournament.

Next Tournament Information
The next tournament will be held at Alpine Marina on Toledo Bend on May 20th and 21st with a potluck cookout planned for Saturday evening.  We will hold registration and the cookout outside of John & Jennifer Anderson’s room at Alpine Marina.  If everyone would please bring your favorite picnic dish, Grace and I will bring the meat and buns.  Last year’s cookout was great (hot) but still great!!!
We hope to see all of you at Toledo Bend on May 20th and 21st, and please invite another couple along who you think may enjoy fishing with us as much as you do.  Until then…

God Bless and Good Fishin’
John & Grace
