Win Choke Canyon!

Two new teams joined CAST South at Choke Canyon on April 15, 2007 for the first of three consecutive tournaments on big fish lakes. We were also joined by John and Grace Watts, who had the opportunity to meet and talk with the great people of CAST South.

Due to the weather very few of the couples pre-fished on Saturday. Winds of 35-40 MPH created a lake better suited for surfing than for fishing. One of our couples reported taking water over the side of the boat several times while crossing the lake to get back to the ramp. At our hotel, I talked with a guy pre-fishing for Bass Champs who took a wave over the bow and broke his windscreen. Needless to say the weather on Saturday was rough!

First place went to new couple Larry and Sharon Wilborn with a five fish stringer that weighed 17.51 pounds.

Second place went to Doug and Jennifer Baker with five fish weighing 13.12 pounds.

Robby and Dawne Robinson took third place with a five fish limit of 12.89 pounds.

Fourth place, and Ranger Bonus money, went to John and Grace Watts with a five fish total of 12.80 pounds.

Rounding out the Top Six are the teams of Bill and Connie Bales and last month’s winners Larry and Patt Martin.

Big bass was tight, with two fish over 7 pounds being brought in. The Big Bass winners were Gary and Laura Nixon. Gary said he had one break off that would have been over 8 pounds. Sorry I don’t have the exact weight with me now, but I believe it was 7.74 lbs.

Larry and Sharon Wilborn were the winners of the Kistler Rod Raffle, winning a pair of Kistler Rods valued at $360! Our thanks again to Trey Kistler and all of the great people at Kistler Custom Rods.

Once again, Travis Boating Center has stepped up and helped out CAST South by donating gift certificates to us for door prizes. We would like to give a big thank you to Darren at Travis for his contribution.
