Stan & Mary Hall WIN at Coleto Creek!

At CAST South Region’s second tournament of the season the weather once
again decided to play nice and cooperate. Sunday’s highs were in the upper
60’s after a cool and cloudy morning with occasional rain.  With such a great
forecast who wouldn’t want to be out on the lake fishing?

Last year’s Angler’s of the Year, Stan & Mary Hall, took full advantage of
the excellent south Texas February weather to continue just as they left off
last season, with a tournament victory!  Stan & Mary’s five-fish limit tipped
the scales at 13.64 pounds.  A very significant accomplishment; considering
how cold the weather had been up until today.  One of the Halls’ fish weighed
in at an impressive 6.54 pounds, taking home the Big Bass check and trophy.
Stan said most of their fish were caught in water eight to ten feet deep.

Second place honors went to a veteran couple from the CAST South Region, Larry & Patt Martin.  Larry & Patt’s five fish limit weighed 13.46 pounds. The Halls and the Martins are always very close when it comes to our tournaments.  This event saw the two couples separated by less than two-tenths of a pound!  Close is an understatement! Patt said it was a tough bite all day, with most of their fish being caught shallow.

The final podium spot, (maybe I watched too much Olympic coverage), went to
Gary & Lynn Brooks, with another excellent five fish stringer weighing 13.23
pounds!

The next CAST South Region tournament will be Sunday, March 14th at beautiful
Lake Amistad.  We should be there just in time to catch some of the biggest bass
of the year!  We hope to see everyone at the tournament.

While you are at Lake Amistad don’t forget to stop in at The Angler’s Lodge to
visit with Carl & Diane Wengenroth.  Carl & Diane are once again helping to
support CAST’s Academic Scholarship Fund drive.  They are donating a two night
stay at The Angler’s Lodge and a full-day of guided bass fishing to the winners of this season’s CAST Scholarship
Fund raffle drawing.   Please see your regional tournament directors to purchase your raffle tickets.

Please support the sponsors who make CAST tournaments more enjoyable; Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Skeeter Real Money, PAA, Texas Marine, Castaway Rods, Strike King Lures, Academy Sports + Outdoors,
