CAST South Starts 2007 at Coleto Creek
Cast South came back from a one year layoff with a good start to the 2007 season. The first tournament at Coleto Creek, February 18, 2007, found the fish uncooperative. Many couples reported locating and catching fish during the 30 mph plus winds on Saturday, but were unable to bring in fish on Sunday. Only six teams weighed fish on Sunday, putting those teams in commanding lead for the South Region’s Top Six.
First place went to long-time members Bill and Mary Beth Langenberg who brought in two fish weighing 6.80 pounds. The Langenburgs also brought in the Big Bass for the day, with a 5.36 pound female.
Bill and Connie Bales weighed in two fish for 2.96 pounds and second place.
Ricky Roberts and Janet Frerich also brought in two fish, with a combined weight of 2.44 pounds. Ricky and Janet were also the winners of the Ranger Bonus money by virtue of being the highest placing Ranger Boat owner.
Rounding out the Top Six are the teams of Jeff Smith and Lisa Hall, newcomers Gary and Laura Nixon, and former CAST South directors Stan and Mary Hall.
Stan and Mary Hall were the winners of the Kistler Rod Raffle, winning a pair of Kistler Rods valued at $360! Kistler Custom Rods manufacturer of some of the best custom fishing rods available anywhere is the newest sponsor of the Couples Association of Sports Tournaments. Kistler Custom Rods is sponsoring CAST by providing freshwater fishing rods to each region of CAST for the 2007 season. Our special thanks to Trey Kistler and all the fine folks at Kistler Custom Rods.
Lori and I would like to give a special thanks to Robby and Dawne Robinson for their donation of a Berkley rod to be given away as a door prize. I am sure that Gary and Laura Nixon, the winners of the rod, would second that thank you.
Once again, Travis Boating Center has stepped up and helped out CAST South by donating gift certificates to us for door prizes. We would like to give a big thank you to Darren at Travis for his contribution.
