CAST South's Falcon Tournament!

Just a week after the Elite series pros left Falcon, the couples from CAST South decended on the lake. To our surprise, we found lake levels had dropped four feet since the pros left town. The dam had been opened to allow for irrigation to continue down river. In addition to falling water, high winds had been blowing for days, making a muddy mess of the main lake.

Long-time CAST South couple Robby & Dawne Robinson were the winners of the Falcon tournament with an impressive five fish stringer weighing in at 23.25 pounds. Their anchor fish was also the tournament's Big Bass at 10.24 pounds. Robby & Dawne caught their fish on a rocky point in 5-10 feet of water. Their big fish was caught just 20 feet from where Dawne had caught an 8.7 pound fish during pre-fishing. All of their fish were caught on a 10.5 inch Gene Larew worm. Both Robby's 10.24 pound bass and Dawne's 8.7 pound bass were their personal bests. Congratulations to you both!

Larry & Patt Martin finished a close second with a five fish stringer weighing 22.60 pounds. Patt & Larry caught their fish in 16-25 feet of water on rock piles. Patt said that Larry kept her in the same little stretch of water all day. Sounds like the strategy paid off well!

Former CAST South Region Directors Stan & Mary Hall took home third place with a very handsome bag of bass weighing 19.35 pounds. Stan & Mary caught all their fish on 8 inch watermelon lizards pitched into trees in 10 feet of water.

The South region's next tournament will be at Lake Amistad on Sunday, May 18th. Lori and I would like to extend a personal invitation to all the couples from the other CAST regions to come fish with us. This will offer everyone a great opportunity to get a good look at the lake before the 2008 CAST Classic in October.
