LARRY AND CAROL MCMINIMY WIN
C.A.S.T. SOUTHEAST 2007 OPENER
ON SAM RAYBURN RESERVOIR

by John & Jennifer Anderson
Cast Southeast started the season with a bang. It started as a cold morning with rain in the forecast but that didn’t stop our anglers from giving it their best. Larry and Carol McMinimy set the stage for the season to follow with a first place stringer weighing 11.76 pounds. Larry and Carol used ½ ounce red rattle traps and brush hogs, keying in on creek channels feeding into the Attoyac River.
Taking second place and new members of C.A.S.T. were the Ranger boat team of Jimmy and Rhonda Rice. Jimmy and Rhonda had a second place total weight of 11.34 pounds. Their primary pattern targeted deep water fish in depths of 15-40 ft. using jigging spoons and small crankbaits. Jimmy and Rhonda also received Ranger Bonus money as the highest finishing team in a Ranger Boat. Jimmy and Rhonda are sponsored by Tri-Lakes Tackle of Lufkin and Ranger Boats.
Third place and big bass of the day went to the great tournament duo of Don and Sandy Jeane. Their big bass of 3.96 pounds helped boost their total weight to 10.95 pounds. They told us the secret to catching their fish was to fish real slooowwww! They barely knew the fish were on and had to pay close attention. Thanks for the great tips. Don and Sandy Jeane are sponsored by Kick’N Bass, Niceboats.com, and Johnny Meyers Roofing of Livingston, Texas.
We were so glad to see John and Grace Watts, (NEW OWNERS OF CAST), fish their old region and take 4th place with 10.91 pounds.
Although Ruby Smith could not weigh in her BIGGEST FISH EVER, she said it sure was exciting to pull in a 6 plus pound Sam Rayburn striper
We also would like to thank Terry and his staff at Jackson Hill Marina for their help in making our tournament a success. Also special thanks to Lynn Atkinson with “Reel um N Guide Service” and Gordon McBride with “Gmc Guide Service”, for each donating a bass and guide trip as a door prize at the tournament.
