WIN CAST SOUTHEAST

CONROE TOURNAMENT!

Stowaway Marina on Lake Conroe hosted CAST Southeast's second event of the season. CAST anglers were greeted with muddy off colored water from recent rain runoff. With a full moon overhead and temperatures rising it made for an interesting tournament; Conroe's BIG BASS were moving to the shallows.

Johnny and Jolyne George took the WIN with a five fish limit weighing 23.32 lbs. Johnny and Jolyne targeted mid-lake areas in

2-3 ft. of water around boat docks. Water temperatures hovered between 60-62 degrees. Their number one bait was an E2 Baits texas-rigged watermelon-red lizard. Congratulations to this great couple. They always seem to put it all together and have a great day.

Second place winners were Larry and Carol McMinimy with a weight of 22.84 lbs. Larry and Carol went to their favorite Lake Conroe “honey hole” to catch their limit of five fish. Larry and Carol used chatterbaits and baby brushhogs to catch their fish. Larry said he lost a couple of four pounders at the boat and Carol hooked a 25 pound catfish that they both thought was going to be BIG BASS of the day. Maybe next time! One of Larry and Carol’s largest bass weighed in at 6.59 lbs. This was their best five fish limit in a CAST tournament since becoming members in 1995.

Third place went to Nick and Sharon Albus with a five fish limit of 21.34 lbs. Nick and Sharon targeted mid lake areas to catch their five fish limit. Their biggest fish, a Lake Conroe lunker, weighed in at 7.47 lbs.

Big Bass honors for the event went to Russell Glenweinkel and his daughter, Allyson Glenweinkel. Their BIG BASS weighed in at 7.95 lbs. and it took team work from both of these partners to land the fish. Russell said, Allyson was really excited when she saw the big fish and even more excited once they had it in the boat. Congratulations to these two for landing such a great bass.

Many of our CAST anglers utilized their Just Keepers weigh-in bag from Duncan Enterprises, www.duncanbags.com, to bring their hefty fish to the scales.

Several teams used their Save Phace masks to combat the cold morning air on the ride to their fishing spots. If you have not had a chance to try one of these masks it is a great investment on those cold, rainy mornings.

NEXT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Our next tournament will be on Toledo Bend Reservoir headquartered at Alpine Marina on March 29, 2008. Registration will be at the Alpine Marina, prior to the tournament, on Saturday morning. Couples may register between 5:00 and 6:30 am. We will allow trailering from the launch site. Please contact the folks at Alpine Marina for help with your lodging needs. They have single wide trailers for rent and hotel rooms as well. You can contact Alpine Marina at 409-625-3518, they are located at 3840 Alpine Road in Hemphill, Texas 75948.
