LARRY AND JOYCE COLEMAN “CAROLINA RIG” TO WIN SOUTHEAST 2008 SEASON OPENER ON

Jackson Hill Marina on beautiful Lake Sam Rayburn played host for the 2008 C.A.S.T. Southeast season opener. C.A.S.T. Southeast anglers were greeted all week with temperatures ranging in the 35-45 degree range with rain on Friday before the tournament. Water temps had fallen almost 10 degrees from the previous week. Saturday morning began with cloudy skies and temperatures were beginning to rise.

Larry and Joyce Coleman of Jasper, Texas claimed the Southeast Region season opener with a very impressive win! Larry and Joyce had three areas holding fish and they managed to catch two fish at their first stop. After the bite shut down they went to their second area where they managed two more keepers. With one last area to try they managed to catch their final keeper and culled several times for the WIN! Larry and Joyce’s choice bait was a Carolina rigged worm. Their total weight was 19.31 pounds. Congratulations to the Coleman’s!

Second place went to the great fishing duo of Johnny and Crystal Fountain with a five fish limit weight of 18.39 pounds. Their first fish was caught around 7:30 AM and after a few more bites the bite shut down. They tried several other “spots” till noon with no luck at all. After going back to their first “spot” the bite resumed and they were able to finish out the tournament catching most of their fish off of Texas rigged worms.

Landon and Anne Ware, mother and son fishing team, brought an impressive BIG BASS to the scales to secure the third place finish. Their third place weight was 17.75 pounds with the BIG BASS going 8.48 pounds. Landon and Anne went to about five different areas allowing them to cull fish all day. Their primary presentation was a Carolina rig. Anne was quoted as saying “All of a sudden my line got heavy, as I pulled on it I felt a little pull back and the FIGHT was on. I fought the fish the best I could as Landon scrambled to help me get her in”.

C.A.S.T. Southeast would like to thank all of our past members for showing up to fish with us. We would like to extend a warm welcome to the new members of C.A.S.T. NEXT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

Our next tournament will be on Lake Conroe out of Stowaway Marina on Saturday, February 23rd. Registration will be at the tournament site that morning. Registration will be between 4:30 AM and 6:45 AM while start time will be determined that morning during registration. We will allow trailering for the tournament and Stowaway Marina has plenty of ice, drinks, and snacks for your on water needs. Also, there is an Academy Sports and Outdoors in Conroe for all your fishing needs.
