Nick Albus “JIGS” his way to a WIN at C.A.S.T. Southeast Region Lake Sam Rayburn tournament!!
C.A.S.T. Southeast competed for their final tournament of the 2007 season on Lake Sam Rayburn out of Jackson Hill Marina. Overcast skies greeted the anglers first thing in the morning but ended up finishing the day with sunny skies.
Bringing in the top weight of the tournament with a 21.69 pound sack of healthy fish was Nick Albus of Trinity, Texas. Even though Nick’s best partner Sharon could not make the tournament Nick was able to take his Ranger Z powered boat to main lake grass beds and points and jigged “Oldham style” for the win. Nick culled a five fish limit and caught a total of nine keepers. Nick wanted to thank his wife Sharon Albus who is his main sponsor of his fishing endeavors. For Nick finishing highest in a Ranger boat he won the “Ranger Cup bonus” as well.
Coming in a close second and no stranger to five fish limits was Larry and Carol McMinimy of Lufkin, Texas. Larry and Carol brought in a healthy sack of fish weighing 17.37 pounds. Larry was so excited to weigh in his fish he could not decide on which one was the big bass. Larry and Carol worked main lake points early in the morning fishing with worms and flukes. As the sun started to come up they pulled out to deeper grass in the 12 – 15 ft. range and fished with Texas rigged Powerworms. A special thanks goes out to Carol McMinimy for taking great pictures at all of our C.A.S.T. tournaments.
Third place went to the long range driving team of W.C. and Anna Polster, who brought in a five fish limit of Sam Rayburn bass that weighed a total of 14.72 pounds. W.C. and Anna started out fishing Ribbit Frogs in 3 – 4 ft. depths to catch their early morning limit. As the sun came out they moved out to deeper grass in the 7 – 10ft. range and caught their fish on Watermelon Candy brushhogs.
Our final top six standings at the end of the year are as follows:
1.
W.C.and Anna Polster
2.

3.
Larry and Carol McMinimy
4.
