OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. MEMBERSHIP: There will be a $50.00 membership fee in the Couples Association of Sport Tournaments that will start January 1st of each year and will expire December 31st of that same year. Participants may join C.A.S.T. at any time during the year. However, if joining after the conclusion of the first tournament in a region, fees will consist of membership dues ($50.00) plus the next two consecutive tournaments entry fees (+100.00 +100.00) for a total of $250.00. NO EXCEPTIONS
2. TOURNAMENT PROGRAM: Regional tournament directors are responsible for keeping all tournament scores and points. Points are based 100 for 1st, 99 for 2nd, etc. All contestants not weighing a fish will receive 25 show points.
3. TOP SIX & CLASSIC TOURNAMENTS: Teams qualifying for the TOP SIX & Classic tournament must have a minimum of 250 points or compete in all six tournaments in a region. Points do not transfer from region to region.
4. ENTRY FEES: Every contestant will be required to pay an entry fee. No one will be allowed to fish a C.A.S.T. tournament free in exchange for promotional or other considerations. For every 5 entries, one place will be paid.
5. ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS: Participation in any C.A.S.T. tournament is open to all members in good standing with the Couples Association of Sport Tournaments organization. Guides are not eligible to fish in any C.A.S.T. tournament.
6. LATE PENALTY: Contestants not clearing the check-in point at the designated time shall result in being disqualified from the tournament weigh-in. They will receive 25 show points.
7. SPORTSMANSHIP: Anyone displaying poor sportsmanship, breaking state or local laws, acting in a manner that reflects negatively on C.A.S.T.'s high standards or violating any of the rules of this tournament circuit may at the discretion of the tournament director forfeit their entry fee and be disqualified from this and all future C.A.S.T. tournaments.
8. PROTEST: Any contestant wishing to file a protest of another contestant must do so in writing within 5 minutes after the official weigh-in is over.
9. SAFETY: Safe boating procedures must be utilized and observed throughout all C.A.S.T. tournaments. Each contestant is required to wear a chest-type life preserver any time the boat is on plane. All boats must be equipped with an ignition kill switch. Any C.A.S.T. contestant found in operation of a boat or in participation in a tournament while under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal drugs will be disqualified from this tournament and all future C.A.S.T. tournaments. No alcohol or illegal drugs may be consumed during tournament hours.
10. FISH & SIZE LIMITS: There will be a 5 fish limit per team. If at any time a team has more than 6 fish in the boat, they will be disqualified. Fish will be 14 inches in length unless State or Federal rules apply. There will be a one (1) pound penalty for each short fish and the short fish will not be weighed. A flat board will be used to determine the length of tournament fish. Only Largemouth, Kentucky and Smallmouth Black Bass will be weighed. Only artificial lures may be used. Any culling of fish must be done immediately after the 6th fish is landed. No culling of fish at weigh-in site will be allowed.
11. BIG BASS AWARDS: Contestants must select their Big Bass at the time of weigh-in. Contestants must qualify and participate in the C.A.S.T. Classic Tournament to qualify for Big Bass of the Year Award, which is presented at the year-end Classic Tournament.
12. TEAMS: Both team members must be present at the first regional tournament entered for the season. Once a team has fished a tournament with both members present, they may fish two tournaments with only one of the team members present. Teams may substitute or change a partner once during the regional tournament season. Substitution or change of partner will not be permitted for the CAST TOP SIX Invitational or the CAST Classic Tournament.
13. POLYGRAPH: A team agrees to take a polygraph test if requested and to abide by the results of the test as determined by the director.
14. RULES DECISIONS: The interpretation of these rules shall be at the discretion of the directors or officials and shall be final. C.A.S.T. rules and regulations are subject to amendment at any time by the directors or officials. However, any changes will be made known to the contestants prior to the tournament.
